COS holds Focus Group Discussion titled "Retooling Teachers in the Face of the New Norm"

A focus group discussion titled "Retooling Teachers in the Face of the New Norm" was held using the MS Teams Application. Educators Training and Workshop on Supporting Learners' Mental Health and Well-Being" to Samberga Elementary School teachers. Furthermore, the webinar aimed to capacitate, equip, and develop primary school teachers' capabilities in structuring a conducive and supportive education for all learners, ultimately producing a quality education and imparting substantial knowledge to their students.

A focus group discussion titled "Retooling Teachers in the Face of the New Norm" was held using the MS Teams Application.
Educators Training and Workshop on Supporting Learners' Mental Health and Well-Being" to Samberga Elementary School
teachers. Furthermore, the webinar aimed to capacitate, equip, and develop primary school teachers' capabilities in
structuring a conducive and supportive education for all learners, ultimately producing a quality education and imparting
substantial knowledge to their students.

Ms. Rafaela M. Bagtas, the Head Teacher of the aforementioned school, expressed her sincere appreciation during her opening
remarks during the webinar. She praised the resource speaker for taking the time and making the effort to grant their request
without giving it a second thought as well as her fellow teachers for their active presence in attending the webinar workshop.

On the other hand, Mr. Jomer Manalang, a faculty member from the College of Science and the current College
Extension Chairperson, took an active role in sharing his extensive knowledge with teachers by assisting students with
Mental and Health Issues as well as their overall well-being. He also emphasized three (3) health issues: the threat of harm,
mental fatigue, and mental health issues that most students experience during the elementary stage and may lead to stress,
anxiety, and depression.

Furthermore, the resource speaker addressed the social standing of teachers and identified some issues that they
encountered while teaching and dealing with their students. It is absolutely essential for them to guide and impose
interventions to alleviate their students' health and mental deficiencies. As a result, it contributes to the SDG 03: Good Health
and Well-Being and SDG 04: Quality Education.
Moreover, during the proper discussion, the teachers of Samberga Elementary School were fully engaged. Some of them
shared their thoughts and experiences with their students' emotional and health issues.

More so, the resource speaker aimed
at raising awareness to be more proactive and resilient in assisting their students to cope with their present predicament.
The webinar was beneficial in helping our teachers in promoting and cultivating positive relationships with their students. As
a result, they can create a strong and conducive environment for fostering quality of education, which can be reflected and
applied to their adult years.
