CASS delivers Academic and Career Planning for GOC students

Career guidance is the guidance given to individuals to help them acquire the knowledge, information, skills, and experience necessary to identify career options, and narrow them down to make one career decision. This career decision results in their social, financial and emotional well-being. Prof Laarni T. Capinding, a career guidance expert from TSU CASS, served as a resource speaker for the graduating senior high school students of Golden Olympus Colleges (GOC) Inc. The seminar was held on December 2 at the GOC Multipurpose Room.

Career guidance is the guidance given to individuals to help them acquire the knowledge, information, skills, and experience necessary to identify career options, and narrow them down to make one career decision. This career decision results in their social, financial and emotional well-being. Prof Laarni T. Capinding, a career guidance expert from TSU CASS, served as a resource speaker for the graduating senior high school students of Golden Olympus Colleges (GOC) Inc. The seminar was on December 2, 2022 the GOC Multipurpose Room.

The seminar started with the opening remarks of Dr. Rex I. Igoy, the school principal. In his message, he emphasized the importance of knowing what career would you like to pursue.

During the session, Prof. Capinding focused on exploring educational and career options and opportunities. She also explained the labour market’s current demands, particularly the changes relative to the health crisis.

In order to present a clear labor market view to the students, she also discussed the 21st Century Skills that are needed by the current labor market as it faces transition due to the changes brought by the health crisis. She also stressed that the pandemic hastened society’s adaptation to technological advancements needed to progress toward the new normal.

The said seminar aimed to guide learners to explore and plan for their future careers and endeavours based on their interests, skills, and values. Moreover, it is intended to provide students with the direction and ability to make decisions and achieve career maturity.

This completed extension activity of CASS is contributory to Goal 4 (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda. Through this kind of activity, students given quality and relevant education which promotes lifelong learning opportunities for them in choosing their career after graduating from college.
