The seminar officially began with a prayer and an energizer exercise on January 22, 2026, at the Provincial Hospital Compound in San Vicente, Tarlac City. This was followed by a warm welcome message given by Ms. Kristine, Manpower Development Officer of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Tarlac Home for Women.
The first speaker, Ms. Jovy Tomas, discussed the session “My Name, My Power,” which encouraged the participants to think about their personal strengths, dreams, and value. She also facilitated other inspiring sessions like “Dream Big, No Limits.” One of the most interesting sessions was about the positive and negative effects of words, based on Japanese ideas, and the significance of self-talk in defining one’s identity.
The discussion further clarified the participants’ understanding of basic gender concepts, such as the difference between sex and gender, gender stereotypes, and the importance of overcoming gender bias. Emphasis was also given to empowerment, self-confidence, effective support systems, and the significance of role models, reinforcing the notion that women are capable, deserving, and limitless.
This was followed by an inspiring talk by Assoc. Prof. Christine Janelle M. Santiago, which furthered the participants’ understanding of gender sensitivity, respect, and self-worth. The program ended with a group affirmation activity that reinforced the themes of empowerment, self-worth, and gender sensitivity of the seminar.
