TSU – COE DESIGNS ENGINEERING PLANS FOR ARMENIA-INTEGRATED SCHOOL

Tarlac State University - College of Engineering (TSU – COE) designs a Site Development Plan with a Bill of Materials for Armenia Integrated School (AIS) to maximize the school's limited space and meet the needs of the students, teachers, and personnel.

The Department of Education (DepEd) stands firm with its new program, DepEd Matatag, in setting the direction for the agency and stakeholders in resolving basic education challenges. One of the agenda is to take steps to accelerate the delivery of basic education facilities and services. Education facilities play a very important role in educating learners. In line with this, Armenia Integrated School (AIS) has requested technical assistance from the COE – Civil Engineering Department in preparation of the site development plan and design, along with a bill of materials for classrooms and other structures.

AIS, located at Zone 2, Barangay Armenia, Tarlac City, has a lot area of 7,084 square meters and has produced several professionals in recent years. AIS implements the K to 12 Enhanced Basic Education program: Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior High School, and Senior High School, which offers a Technical-Vocational Livelihood strand specializing in Caregiving with 80 enrollees and Humanities and Social Sciences under Academic Track, catering to 54 enrollees in total.

Expert Service Providers (ESPs) divided the project into four (4) phases. The preliminary phase comprises an on-site visit, an initial meeting with the beneficiary, and an MOA signing in March-April 2023, spearheaded by the project head, Engr. Edwin Dela Vega with other ESPs, Dr. Marie Wendy J. Frany, Engr. Susa Nina A. Sapad, Engr. Ryan Layug, Engr. Leonides Tatu, Engr. Randy Policarpio, and Engr. Emy Vasquez.

The following phase, Surveying and Planning, comprises (a) surveying of the school site, (b) preparation of a topographic map and existing plan, (c) evaluation of existing pertinent documents, and (d) Preparation of site development plan. This phase is put into action by the l expertise of the ESPS, Engr. Dela Vega, Engr. Murphy P. Mohammed, Engr. Frany, Engr. Sapad, Engr. Layug, Engr. Tatu, Engr. Policarpio, Engr. Vasquez, Engr. Bonjoebee R. Bello, and with the assistance of PICE – TSU Students. In conclusion, the Presentation and Planning Phase covers the Submission and Output Presentation carried out by the ESPs.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 04 and 09 have been addressed. AIS learners and educators will be more at ease in their classrooms, ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and encouraging lifelong learning opportunities for all. SDG 09: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure empowers AIS to support sustainable industrialization and innovation.
