DAR Tarlac collaborates with TSU CET for technical consultancy

The Cabayaosan Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (CFAC) is currently based in the municipality of Paniqui. They began their operation on February 9, 2019. It has 85 members who are headed by Chairperson Rodrigo S. Gamino and Vice Chairperson Juan D. Lacambacal Jr. Presently, they have four members in charge of processing mushroom chicharron. Although Cabayaosan Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (CFAC) is expanding and becoming more popular locally and internationally, they are still striving to enhance their production and processing facilities to produce and ensure the quality of their mushroom chicharron product.

The Tarlac State University (TSU) – College of Engineering and Technology (CET), in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), conducted a consultation entitled: “Technical Consultancy on the Preparation of the Food-Safety Compliant Facility Layout” which was offered by the faculties from Industrial Engineering Department and was held on June 1, 2023, at Brgy. Cabayaoasan, Paniqui, Tarlac. This activity aimed to improve the production of the beneficiaries and their processing facilities for their mushroom chicharon.

Expert Service Providers, led by Engr. Renz Paul P. Quimbao, together with Engr. Dick S. Tuazon, Engr. Anna May Angeles, Engr. Jayriz Dungca and Mr. Aljon Lusong, were conjoined in order to draft the facility layout that is food-safety compliant for Cabayaoasan Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (CFAC).

On June 1, 2023, Engr. Quiambao represented the Industrial Engineering Faculty for the presentation of output to the beneficiary and partner agency, the Department of Agrarian Reform, for their consideration and output.

This extension activity of CET – Industrial Engineering Department contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG); SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure since this activity allow the beneficiary to improve their production and processing facilities and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals by establishing connections between TSU, DAR, and Cabayaoasan Farmer Agriculture Cooperative.
