COS empowers Amucao National High School Teachers with Action and Applied Research Skills

On May 5, 2023, Tarlac State University's College of Science hosted a capacity-building workshop for Amucao National High School teachers. The seminar and workshop, titled "Professional Capacity: A Simplified Approach in Writing Action and Applied Research with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS Application)," The primary goal of this project is to establish teachers to provide basic knowledge and skills in action and applied research methods, as well as to carry out and accumulate a quality research product to be presented to the Tarlac City School's research department.

On May 5, 2023, Tarlac State University's College of Science hosted a capacity-building workshop for Amucao National High School teachers. The seminar and workshop, titled "Professional Capacity: A Simplified Approach in Writing Action and Applied Research with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS Application)," The primary goal of this project is to establish teachers to provide basic knowledge and skills in action and applied research methods, as well as to carry out and accumulate a quality research product to be presented to the Tarlac City School's research department.

Furthermore, resource speakers offered foundational knowledge about research and its approaches. Also, faculty members of Amucao National High School presented their suggested research project under the guidance and knowledge of the resource speaker. Coaching and mentoring on the establishment and output of the training session, as well as answering queries and concerns, were also seen during the workshops. Since the resource speakers encourage teachers to conduct research using school records or data, it will assist teachers become more aware of and enhance their knowledge in research, which will also contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality EducationAs a result, top authorities in the Department of Education, as well as teachers, will be able to detect any difficulties that would aid students and schools in constructing and delivering a quality and conducive education for their students. 

In addition, Ms. May Avelino, the School Head of Amucao National High School, also expressed appreciation for the Extension Service Providers' engagement and dedication. This form of seminar-workshop will help his colleagues expand their ability to undertake substantial and high-quality research investigations. She also encourages her colleagues to conduct research as part of their professional development, as it is essential to identify some problems that can generate a competitive school-community and proactive teachers who are known as catalysts for change.

Moreover, Dr. Willie Alagano, a College of Science faculty member, one of the resource presenters, offering her knowledge and elaborating on action research. She concentrated on the following topics: the basics of Action Research, the benefits or positive consequences of conducting it, the process or procedures, the reasons or goals, and lastly its relevance. Also, he highlighted some research writing methodologies and rising trends to help students make their research more dependable and accurate, as she stressed that the topic they chose to examine was determined by their passion.

Furthermore, Dr. Estrella Pagco, a COS faculty member, serves as a resource speaker who discusses how to obtain accurate data during research. Data collection from your study is an important element of performing research. According to the resource speaker, the data you collected must align or parallel in order to establish that the activities are valid, which indicates that the information represents what the researchers claim it does. Taking this into account, researchers might proceed to the next technique by evaluating and interpreting the data they collected.

As a result, in order to develop a successful and high-quality research study, researchers must dedicate some time to learning and appreciating the essentials that will emerge. Furthermore, the aforementioned seminar-workshop benefited the Amucao National High School teachers, who obtained a wealth of knowledge and fruitful themes from the resource speakers' commitment and expertise.
