Communication Department trains campus journalists on Radio Broadcasting

Ten students from Tibag Elementary School underwent a 5-day coaching and mentoring on Radio Broadcasting from January 23 to 27, 2022. Faculty experts from TSU – College of Arts and Social Sciences were tapped to serve as coaches, mentors, and trainers. The students were assisted by their teacher, who is also their adviser, Ms. Lilian E. Dayrit.

Ten students from Tibag Elementary School underwent a 5-day coaching and mentoring on Radio Broadcasting from January 23 to 27, 2022. Faculty experts from TSU – College of Arts and Social Sciences were tapped to serve as coaches, mentors, and trainers. The students were assisted by their teacher, who is also their adviser, Ms. Lilian E. Dayrit. 

TSU 87.5 Firefox Radio’s supervisor Ms. Maria Fermina Joyce C. Nucum and in-house radio jockeys from the Communication Department served as the mentor and trainer while Mr. Rudolf A. Galzote served as the technical facilitator. In addition, Mr. Reignchil Kraizz Bactad and Ms. Vealyssa Bianca T. Basto from the TSU Communicator’s Guild also helped in guiding the students on radio broadcasting and shared their expertise and experiences. Aside from imparting knowledge on the technicalities of radio broadcasting, the trainers also provided tips and advice on the proper execution of their piece and the do’s and don’t’s on the competition proper. 

This activity aimed to further equip and enhance the journalism competence of Tibag Elementary School students with much-needed skills in the field of radio broadcasting and develop their journalistic skills. Moreover, this was to prepare the students for the District Press Conference on Radio Broadcasting on January 28, 2023. 

This completed extension activity of CASS contributes to goal 4 (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Agenda.
