In keeping with the university’s objective of promoting community development, the College of Architecture and Fine Arts has been continually committed to community service. Indeed, the College of Architecture and Fine Arts has undertaken yet another extension project that will certainly help the community.
The College of Architecture and Fine Arts once again shared its knowledge with the beneficiaries by delivering virtual lectures via social media platforms. The extension project was titled “PROJECT BUKLAT: An In-House Brief Review for the Architect Graduates.” This project aims to get a higher percentage of board passers with the possibility of having board passers top notchers. Likewise, to encourage the organization members to participate and take the board exams.
In the Philippines, the Architectural Licensure Examination is the final step in becoming a licensed architect. And it typically occurs in January and June. On May 16, 2023, to May 23, 2023, the Extension Service Providers from the Tarlac State University – College of Architecture and Fine Arts (TSU-CAFA) extended their extension services to the TSU-CAFA graduates and UAPGA-Tarlac members through a series of in-house review sessions. The virtual lecture series concentrated on five (5) major subjects and discussions. And these subjects are TOS of ALE, discussed by Ar. Raymond T. Co; History of Architecture presented by Ar. Paolo Andrew C. Hasegawa; Ar. Joanna Patricia A. Grande, who talked about Tropical Architecture; Building Utilities presented by Ar. Anthony Agra; and Building Technology delivered by Ar. Mary Claire G. Yalung, while Ar. Rendell K. Sotto shared his knowledge about the Tips and Strategies for Taking the Exam. The college faculty provided a test for each topic. Every questionnaire had follow-up explanations to ensure that the learners understood the information given to them.
In the end, Project Buklat, led by Ar. Gabriel Angelo E. Bucad was successful. The project aims to help the beneficiaries provide continuous education to aspiring architects and ensure that each member may be given a better opportunity to prepare for the licensure examinations and, further, to be given a better opportunity to have a prolific and productive practice.
The delivered extension activity contributes to the SDGs, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). It helps to ensure quality education, human capacity development, and economic growth, which is critical for long-term development.
