Project eCEST: Envi Science group delivers Seminar on Biodiversity Conservation to four IP communities

To promote the conservation of local biodiversity and awareness on the roles of indigenous peoples in biodiversity conservation, Tarlac State University, through the College of Science, conducted a seminar workshop on Biodiversity Conservation last from March to April 2022.

The seminar and workshop was conducted on Saturdays and Mondays. It was conducted in four identified IP communities in Tarlac: Mayantoc, San Clemente, Bamban, and San Jose.

Dr. Rita Pulmano, Ms. Geraldine Gamoso, Mr. Wesley Gagarin, and Mr. Emmanuel Lacadin, faculty experts from the Environmental Science department, served as resource speakers/trainers.

CEST is one of the priority programs of DOST as a response to the government’s National Program on Poverty Alleviation.

 Through CEST, DOST reaches the poorest of the poor communities and delivers appropriate technologies for rural-based enterprises, improvement of health status of the community, enhancement of students' knowledge, environmental protection, and disaster prevention and mitigation.
