A total of 312 learners of Sto. Cristo Integrated School benefitted from the Career Guidance Services provided by the faculty experts from the Psychology department of TSU – College of Arts and Social Sciences on December 5, 2022.

Participants were grouped according to their year level: Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. The activities for Grades 11 and 12 were conducted face to face (SCIS Building), while the activity for Grades 9 and 10 was done virtually (Google Meet).

Among the 312 students who joined the activity, 105 are Grade 12 learners, 93 are Grade 11 learners, 59 are Grade 10 learners, and 53 are from Grade 9.

The participants were formally welcomed by Mr. Vladimir A. Manuel, SHS focal person of SCIS, followed by Ms. Racquel R. Decena, the career guidance focal person of SCIS. Ms. Decena highlighted the importance of building an effective study habit and provided the rationale and background of the activity.

Before the lecture was held, Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional (RAISEC) Test was administered to Grades 11 and 12 learners facilitated by Dr. Editha Q. Villavicencio and Ms. Angela Christinne V. Pangilinan. RAISEC is a psychological test that helps an individual understand the type of work tasks that he is inclined to do and this helps him to have a better idea of his preferences, allowing him to shortlist and evaluate his work choices.

Following this, the lecture was held on building effective study habits. Resource speakers are Mr. Daniel Dizon for Grade 12 learners, Ms. Jazmin Joy Dizon for Grade 11 learners, Ms. Julia Yvette Miranda for Grade 10 learners and Ms. Mary Joy Facun for Grade 9 learners.

During the discussion, the speakers emphasised the ways and strategies for forming good study habits such as creating the right study environment, setting goals and priorities, and the importance of time management, among others. An open forum was also conducted at the end to address questions from the participants.

The said activity aimed to guide learners to explore and plan for their future careers and endeavours based on their interests, skills, and values. Moreover, it is intended to provide students with the direction and ability to make decisions and achieve career maturity.
