CCLGSPD, together with the College of Arts and Social Sciences – Psychology and Human Services Department, successfully held the G.A.B.A.Y. Orientation on May 7, 2026, at the Pura Event Center in Pura, Tarlac.
The orientation is a flagship activity of the CARE Program (Consultancy and Research in Localizing Child Protection Policy), which aims to localize child protection policies and deliver psychosocial interventions at the community level, equipping local stakeholders with the knowledge and tools to create safer and more supportive environments for children.
The event opened with remarks from Dr. Cynthia G. Quiambao, who expressed her appreciation that psychosocial intervention services have finally been brought to the municipality. This was followed by inspirational messages from Councilors Hon. Roldan G. Capinpin and Hon. Alejo D. Mendoza Jr., reflecting the local government's strong support for the initiative.
The program featured an icebreaker facilitated by Ms. Maria Mei Fatima S. Terania, the presentation of ground rules by Ms. Mary Joy R. Facun, and a comprehensive overview of the G.A.B.A.Y. framework and objectives delivered by Dr. Jazmin Joy E. Dizon.
Dr. Grace Anne Hasegawa introduced the faculty experts who will serve as mentors throughout the program, while Dr. Marie Paz H. Angeles facilitated an open forum that encouraged participants to share their insights and discuss issues related to mental health and child protection. The active participation of community members highlighted their commitment to working together in fostering a safer, healthier, and more child-friendly community.
