On May 7, 2026, a Trauma-Informed Care session was conducted for Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL), Children at Risk (CAR), and Children in Need of Special Protection (CNSP) in the municipality of Pura, Tarlac. The session was held under the CARE Program of the Center for Community and Local Governance Studies and Policy Development (CCLGSPD), in partnership with the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Psychology and Human Services Department.
This marked the first of a series of planned monthly sessions, reflecting the program's sustained commitment to the rehabilitation, psychosocial well-being, and mental health support of CICL, CAR, and CNSP in the municipality.
The session served as a counseling activity designed to provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where participants could openly process their experiences. Facilitators began with a program orientation and secured informed consent from the children's parents and guardians. This was followed by an engagement activity that helped establish trust, encourage openness, and create a supportive atmosphere for meaningful participation.
The session was facilitated by Dr. Nina G. Valentin, Ms. Mary Joy R. Facun, and Ms. Maria Mei Fatima S. Terania, whose expertise and compassionate approach ensured that every participant received respectful, professional, and trauma-informed care throughout the activity.
