The Tarlac State University - College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) conducted a seminar-workshop that explored the impact of extension services in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through long-term projects. The gathering of Extension Service Providers (ESP) committed to improving the community took place at the MMM Resort in Victoria, Tarlac, under the leadership of Dean Dr. Aloysius Madriaga.
By providing a forum for the participants to gather valuable information and ideas, the activity aimed to highlight the crucial role that extension services play in promoting the SDGs. Engr. Emir Lenard S.F. Sicangco, Unit Head of the Office of Extension Services served as a resource speaker. In his lecture, he emphasized the purpose of extension services and asked faculty members to prioritize long-term projects over short-term ones.
Moreover, following Engr. Sicangco’s talk, introducing her long-term extension project titled "Aytalakad ing Lahi," Dr. Francelle L. Calub, Project Leader, and former College Extension Department Head, provided an example of how committed initiatives can result in a significant change in local communities. Dr. Calub’s project inspired other ESPs to start their own long-term initiatives, fostering a sense of mission and a dedication to sustainable development.
