After bagging first place at District Level, Radio Broadcasting Team (Filipino Category), the Broadcasting Team of Tibag Elementary School once again tapped the expertise of the Communication Department for intensive training on Radio Broadcasting. The winning team (consisting of five students) was trained on February 9, 10, 14, and 15, 2023, at Tarlac State University’s Radio Station.
With the guidance of their teacher and school paper adviser, Ms. Lilian E. Dayrit, and the support of their school principal, Dr. Marieta M. Cabenta, the students were allowed to learn the technicalities of radio broadcasting. They were also provided effective techniques and strategies by the TSU 87.5 Firefox Radio’s supervisor Ms. Maria Fermina Joyce C. Nucum, and in-house radio jockeys from the Communication Department, Mr. Michael John Hipolito and Prof. Einifredo Luis. In addition, Mr. Reignchil Kraizz Bactad and Ms. Vealyssa Bianca T. Basto from the TSU Communicator’s Guild also helped guide the students on radio broadcasting and shared their expertise and experiences.
Aside from the coaching-mentoring, the TSU also consulted the beneficiaries on developing their infomercial material. Ms. Nerissa Olarte and Mr. John Lanuzo served as the consultants.
This activity aimed to further equip and enhance the journalism competence of Tibag Elementary School students with much-needed skills in the field of radio broadcasting and develop their journalistic skills. Moreover, this prepared the students for the Division Press Conference on Radio Broadcasting.
This completed extension activity of CASS contributes to goal 4 (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Agenda.
