TCPEIA taps TSU experts for Campus Journalism Training

To further equip the school paper advisers with much-needed skills in the field of journalism and develop their journalistic skills, Tarlac City Private Institutions Association (TCPEIA) tapped TSU’s faculty experts to talk about campus journalism. The 2-day training was conducted on November 19 and November 26, 2022, at the TSU Lucinda Extension Campus, Tarlac City.

To further equip the school paper advisers with much-needed skills in the field of journalism and develop their journalistic skills, Tarlac City Private Institutions Association (TCPEIA) tapped TSU’s faculty experts to talk about campus journalism. The 2-day training was conducted on November 19 and November 26, 2022, at the TSU Lucinda Extension Campus, Tarlac City.

 

More than forty participants from different private schools in Tarlac City, most are school paper advisers, joined the said training.

 

Resource speakers on day 1 (November 19, 2022) are Mr. Daniel De Guzman (Feature Writing), Feature Writing (News Writing), Photojournalism (Mr. John Lanuzo), and Ms. Marah Dungca (Science Writing). Moreover, resource speakers on day 2 (November 26, 2022) are Mr. Jovito Taruc (Sports Writing), Ms. Nerissa Olarte (Column Writing), Mr. Bonjoebee Bello (Editorial Cartooning), and Ms. Jazzel Llaneli Manabat (Editorial Writing).

 

Campus journalism has long been implemented through the Republic Act 7079, or Campus Journalism Act of 1991, which prescribed the implementation of campus journalism in both private and public schools in the Philippines.

 

This completed extension activity of CASS contributes to Goal 4 (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda. Through this kind of activity, teacher-advisers are given quality and relevant education which promotes lifelong learning opportunities for them in delivering their duty of guiding students to do responsible journalism.
