A webinar on Digital Literacy was held earlier this morning (February 2, 2022) by the TSU’s College of Teacher Education, via Zoom meeting.
The lecture was attended by the teaching personnel of Maruglo Elementary School. Teachers from this school usually caters indigenous learners who live in far-flung areas.
Extension service providers, Dr. Leodivina P. Tagama and Ms. Melody P. Sapad, both faculty members of CTED, served as resource speakers. They shared their expertise on digital literacy and digital skills, as well as their knowledge on the use of Mendeley and Grammarly.
On the first part of the discussion, Dr. Tagama talked about the different digital literacy competencies.
“Your dedication in teaching students of Maruglo Elementary School is a manifestation of your patience and commitment towards our profession,” Dr. Tagama said during her discussion.
She also highlighted the importance of digital literacy in teaching specially in the school setting.
“Collaborating with your colleagues can improve your digital skills, as well as fostering cooperation and trust in your organization,” Dr. Tagama added.
On the other hand, Ms. Sapad explained the different features of Microsoft Office Application and illustrated how to navigate scholarly applications such as Mendeley and Grammarly. She also discussed their importance especially for people who are conducting their research.
The purpose of the webinar is to provide in-depth and practical information on digital skills and digital literacy. Moreover, it aims to help educators on using and exploring the said applications.
This completed extension project of CTED is contributory to the goal 4 (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Agenda.
