Approximately 21 schoolteachers, 50 parents, and 100 children in Aguso, Tarlac City were the beneficiaries of the recently concluded outreach activity of the Tarlac State University – Colleges of Science and Teacher Education last August 8, 2022.
The said outreach was conducted in Alvindia-Aguso Central Elementary School with the aid of the school principal, Dr. Mary Jane C. Dela Cruz. This was also part of their Brigada Eskwela 2022 as preparation for the opening of classes for this school year.
With the theme ‘Valuing the Quality Healthcare of Less Fortunate Families’, the outreach focused on improving the health and well-being of the beneficiaries by donating hygiene kits and conducting a clean-up drive (vicinity cleaning and garden and classroom beautification.) Moreover, students of AACS received basic school supplies that they could use for the incoming full implementation of face-to-face classes.
Simultaneous lectures were also held for parents and teachers while the gift-giving program was being conducted for the students. Dr. Norbina Genever M. Castro talked about the role of parents as scaffolders while Dr. Ma. Theresa A. Acosta discussed with the teachers their roles in new normal education.
It was in partnership with the Global Outreach for Community Empowerment, Inc., a non-government organization (NGO), through Dr. Alma M. Corpuz, member of GOCE and faculty member of TSU – COS, and the Department of Education Division of Tarlac Province.
This completed extension activity of COS and CTED contributes to Goal 17 (Partnership for the Goals) as it promotes effective public, public-private and civil society partnerships.
