Through its faculty experts from the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA), Tarlac State University conducted an extension activity last August 17, 2022, entitled "Seminar on Basic Entrepreneurial and Marketing Concepts" for the teachers, students, and parents in San Manuel High School.

This activity included facilitators and resource speakers from the CBA: Dr. Hazel T. Mabborang, Mr. Dante C. Fernando Jr., and Ms. Ronalyn Ann Marie E. Diaz.

The mentioned Extension Service Providers (ESPs) from the CBA extended their expertise through knowledge transfer activities. Dr. Mabborang cited instances of individuals who are regarded as businessmen and entrepreneurs. She gave examples of rags-to-riches stories. She then distinguished between the two words by stating that the former is those who utilize the talents and expertise of others, while the latter develops new ideas that may be applied to the creation of a business. Additionally, she identified great businessmen's traits, such as being imaginative, creative, innovative, and having the appropriate mindset and taking risks. She also highlighted the benefits of conducting business. She continued by citing her favourite Jack Ma quote, "You don't need to be the best, you simply need to be the first," as an example.

On the other hand, Mr. Fernando centered his discussion on the definition of branding and its influence on society. He also provided examples of contentious goods that can be regarded as having poor branding. Additionally, it was underlined how crucial branding is to get more followers across various social media sites. After his speech, he discussed the value of using your voice and creating your image to establish your brand.

Meanwhile, Ms. Diaz introduced her topic by defining marketing and the items that can be promoted. The 8Ps, which comprise the product, price, price, promotion, people, process, and physical environment, are then discussed after defining a marketing mix. Finally, Ms. Christine Janelle M. Matias, College Extension Chairperson (CEC), urged everyone to join the next part of the extension activity, which will be held the following day and discuss gender and development.

By introducing entrepreneurial and marketing concepts, the completed extension activity of CBA supports and encourages the participants to create and innovate their businesses to promote financial progress and provide job opportunities to others. Thus, the activity contributes to achieving Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) of the Sustainable Development Goals.
