Faculty experts from the College of Arts and Social Sciences went to Sitio Hot Spring Bueno Capas, Tarlac, last June 27, 2022, to deliver an extension service through a seminar/community outreach. More than 50 IP parents received a lecture on social preparation, while more than 50 IP children attended the storytelling activity. Both activities were done simultaneously, so ESPs formed two groups: Group 1 for the social preparation seminar and Group 2 for the storytelling activity. To accommodate the number of participants, they were grouped into Morning Group and Afternoon Group.
During the social preparation, IP beneficiaries received lectures on basic hygiene and sanitation, mushroom culture, and bonsai making. Meanwhile, children were told and read four different stories in the storytelling activity. This is to foster their imagination, boost their listening skill, instil values, and improve their social skills.
The project leader said that the completed extension activity was just Phase 1, and they will come back in the coming weeks to deliver extension services to the same community.
This completed extension activity of CASS contributes to goal 4 (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Agenda.
