On January 30, 2026, a Seminar-Workshop on Review of Literature and Related Studies (RRL/RRS) was conducted for the Indigenous Peoples (IP) students of Maamot Integrated School in support of inclusive education and research capacity-building. The activity was led by Dr. Robert Marcos, Director of the Office of University Research and Development (OURD).
The seminar-workshop aimed to equip IP students with fundamental and practical skills in academic research, particularly in developing a coherent and credible Review of Literature and Related Studies. In his presentation, Dr. Marcos emphasized the importance of the RRL/RRS in establishing a strong research foundation, identifying knowledge gaps, and strengthening the academic integrity of student-led research.
Designed to be interactive and learner-centered, the session guided participants on effective techniques for sourcing, organizing, and synthesizing scholarly literature. Common challenges encountered by student researchers, including proper citation, evaluating the relevance of sources, and maintaining a logical flow of discussion, were also addressed to enhance the quality and analytical depth of their research writing.
The activity reflects OURD's commitment to promoting equitable access to research education by extending academic support to Indigenous Peoples learners. By empowering the IP students of Maamot Integrated School with essential research skills, the seminar-workshop contributes to building their confidence, strengthening their academic preparedness, and encouraging meaningful participation in scholarly research.
