The Office of University Extension Services (OUES) successfully concluded its three-part outreach initiative, Kalap Para sa Lingap Donation Drive for the DSWD Lingap Center Home for the Boys, with a culminating year-end celebration held at the center. Implemented under the SARAP Tumulong Program, the initiative reflects the University’s continuing commitment to compassionate service and community engagement.
The outreach series was spearheaded by Engr. Emir Lenard S. F. Sicangco and Assoc. Prof. Laarni T. Capinding, whose leadership guided the planning and execution of the project from its initial activities to its final celebration.
The culminating activity featured a simple yet meaningful year-end party and short program for the children. The event provided an opportunity for the OUES team to interact with children in care, share moments of joy, and foster a warm and supportive environment as the outreach series reached its conclusion.
During the activity, OUES turned over various donations to support the daily needs and overall development of the boys. These included foldable tables for dining and group activities, as well as hygiene supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shampoo to promote health and well-being. In addition, the TSU Alumni Affairs donated a television set to enhance the educational and learning activities of the center.
The success of the project was made possible through the generous support of donors who responded to the call for donations circulated through social media and word of mouth. Contributors included the Center for Community Local Governance Studies and Policy Development (CCLGSPD), the TSU Association of Future Science Educators, the Maharlika Organization, TSU Alumni Affairs, and several private benefactors who shared in the advocacy of caring for children in need.
With the completion of Kalap Para sa Lingap, OUES reaffirmed its commitment to sustained and meaningful extension work. The outreach series strengthened the partnership between the University and the DSWD Lingap Center while highlighting the collective efforts of the TSU community in promoting care, compassion, and social responsibility.
