On March 13, 2026, the Center for Capacity Building and Local Governance Services Program Development (CCLGSPD), in collaboration with the Tarlac State University College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) – Psychology Department, conducted a coordination meeting with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Pura to discuss the implementation of the CARE Project.
The meeting opened with Dr. Jazmin Joy E. Dizon, Department Head of the Psychology and Human Services Department, who presented an overview of the services offered by the Psychology Department. She highlighted the department's commitment to community engagement, particularly in providing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS) through extension initiatives.
Following the presentation, representatives from both institutions engaged in a comprehensive discussion on the municipality's existing mental health concerns and psychosocial support needs. The dialogue enabled both parties to identify service gaps, assess current community challenges, and explore opportunities for collaboration in addressing these issues.
Ms. Analiza Campo, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO) of Pura, also shared insights on other social concerns affecting the municipality, emphasizing the importance of a collaborative and holistic approach to community development and service delivery.
The meeting concluded with discussions on potential interventions and preventive strategies under the CARE Project. Proposed initiatives included the conduct of seminars, mental health awareness campaigns, and community-based programs designed to strengthen local mental health support systems, promote psychosocial well-being, and equip residents with effective coping strategies.
