Six extensionists from Tarlac State University (TSU) attended the 2025 International Extension Congress organized by the Philippine Association of Extension Program Implementors, Inc. (PAEPI) in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, from June 10 to 13, 2025. The congress, themed “Embracing Science and Technology-Driven Extension Platforms for Sustainable and Inclusive Communities,” provided a platform for in-depth consultations, analyses, and discussions aimed at addressing the challenges faced by various service sectors and communities of PAEPI member institutions.
The congress featured plenary lectures and a paper competition, highlighting solutions and best practices in extension services. TSU's extensionists showcased their extension programs through the following presentations:
1) "Profiling the Katipunan ng Kabataan: An In-Depth Exploration of Challenges and Opportunities for Youth Engagement Strategies in Tarlac City” by Dr. Cynthia G. Quaimbao of the Center for Community and Local Governance Studies and Policy Development (CCLGSPD).
2) “Aytalakad Ing Lahi: Building the Capacity of Ayta Mag-Antsi of Sitio Manabayukan Community to Achieve Cultural Preservation” by Dr. Francelle L. Calub of the College of Arts and Social Sicences (CASS).
3) “Enhancing Childcare Services through Governance and Capacity Building of Child Development Workers in Tarlac Province” by Asst. Prof. Vien Jamaica D. Samson of CCLGSPD.
4) “Needs Assessment and Social Preparation Approach (NASPA) for Community Development Project of Sitio Paoay, Guiteb, Ramos, Tarlac” by Asst. Prof. Izelle F. Gabion of the College of Public Administration and Governance (CPAG).
Additionally, the congress was attended by the Office of University Extension Services (OUES) key officials, Dir. Emir Lenard. S.F. Sicangco and Ms. Jay Ann L. Pablo.
By actively involving TSU extensionists in such platforms, the university demonstrates its ongoing efforts to promote sustainable and inclusive communities through research and extension initiatives.
