Tarlac State University (TSU), through the Center for Community and Local Governance Studies and Policy Development (CCLGSPD), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Mayantoc sealed their partnership on October 23, 2025, for the project “Kinabaknang Ti Mayantoc: A Treasure Trove of Mayantoc’s Roots and Heritage.”
The initiative seeks to document and celebrate the municipality's roots, traditions, and heritage, serving as a lasting reference for future generations and a source of local pride. The LGU has committed an initial funding of ₱500,000 to jumpstart the project, reflecting the municipality’s strong support for preserving its cultural identity.
TSU President Dr. Arnold E. Velasco lauded Mayantoc’s efforts to promote the community’s heritage and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to community-centered initiatives. Hon. Mayor Illuminado E. Pobre Jr. also expressed his gratitude to the university for bringing its expertise beyond the campus and vowed continued collaboration on projects that honor their history.
Representing TSU were Engr. Emir Lenard S. F. Sicango, OIC of the Vice President for Research, Innovation and Extension; Dr. Cynthia G. Quiambao, Director of the CCLGSPD; Mr. John H. Lanuzo, Ms. Vien Jamaica Samson, CCLGSPD Department Head; and Mr. Bryan Jan S. Dizon, Project Head.
Also present were Hon. Vice Mayor Venus R. Tomas, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Tourism Officers, Local Historians, the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO), and municipal staff expressing their excitement and full support for the project.
