Dr. Marlon V. Gamido, Office of Management Information Systems Director served as a resource speaker for the Introduction to DPA and provided insights on Republic Act No. 10173. He alluded the convictions and penalties under the said republic act including the unauthorized processing of information, Socia Media Privacy Violation, and Workplace Violation. Dr. Gamido also shared a Data Protection Landscape for local governance.
Also, Prof. Gilbert G. Gonzales, Associate Dean and Chairperson of Information Technology Department of the College of Computer Studies (CCS) discussed Electronic Records Management.
Prof. Gonzales stressed the importance of archives in governance as the National Archives of the Philippines encouraged local government units to have an electronic copy of pertinent documents. To promote an interactive discussion, a game was assigned to the participants answering if a certain document is considered a record or not.
The said seminar is component of the TKD’s flagship project Program Revitalization of Information System Management (PRISM) and aims to help the local government units create a general guideline on the creating, processing, and disposing documents and records.
