The Department of Science and Technology - Provincial Science and Technology Office (DOST-PSTO) Tarlac sincerely thanks Tarlac State University (TSU) for its continued partnership in the implementation of the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Program.
On September 10, 2025, TSU once again extended its support by providing a resource speaker for the Product Costing Seminar held at the Barangay Hall of Guiteb, Ramos, Tarlac. This activity benefited two DOST-assisted groups— Samahan ng mga May Kapansanan sa Ramos (SAMAKA) and the Guiteb Sewers Association (GSA)— as well as other members of the community involved in candle making, baking, sewing, and farming.
Mr. Jerome O. Mendiola introduced the seminar by discussing the importance of proper costing and asked the participants about their current business challenges. Mr. Ralph Renzo L. Melegrito as the resource speaker, led the technical discussion on how to properly price products, highlighting key components such as material costs, labor or salaries, overhead, and other expenses. He emphasized the importance of separating business and personal finances, and helped participants compute their total manufacturing cost and unit cost through a hands-on workshop. The activity provided valuable insights and practical skills for sustaining and improving community-based enterprises.
