Seminar and Workshop on Marketing Mix for Local Entrepreneurs

On September 24, the Seminar and Workshop on Product, Price, Place, and Promotion was successfully conducted at the Event Center in Pura, Tarlac. The event brought together members of the Linao Women’s Association and the Persons with Disabilities (PWD), respectfully recognized as "Persons with Diskarte," along with their diverse products. The program commenced with an opening prayer and insightful remarks from Ma'am Christine Janelle Santiago, who emphasized the significance of marketing education in empowering local entrepreneurs.
The seminar featured four expert resource speakers from the Marketing Management Department under College of Business and Accountancy of Tarlac State University, each focusing on a key element of the marketing mix. The first speaker, Mr. Ivan F. Dizon, discussed PRODUCT, emphasizing the selection of products based on local preferences, the significance of memorable product names, and the importance of clean, presentable packaging and appealing colors. The second speaker, Dr. Hazel T. Mabborang, covered PRICE, detailing the various costs involved in pricing such as raw materials, labor, storage, delivery, transportation, sales commissions, competitor pricing, and customer purchasing power, alongside effective pricing strategies. Mr. Peping Pedro C. Pedro then addressed PLACE, focusing on distribution through online platforms like Shopee and TikTok as well as physical stores, encouraging proactive customer outreach when necessary. Lastly, Mr. Dante C. Fernandez Jr. spoke on PROMOTION, highlighting the use of social media, collaborations with influencers, and partnerships with LGUs and government agencies to increase product visibility.
A consultation session followed, recommending packaging techniques such as vacuum sealing to extend shelf life by minimizing air exposure. The seminar and workshop concluded with a practical session where participants applied the concepts learned by deciding on products to sell, pricing strategies, distribution channels, and promotional methods to effectively grow their businesses.
The activity proved to be highly engaging and interactive, successfully equipping the participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills related to the marketing mix that they can immediately apply to improve their businesses.
