𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 | On October 17, 2025, Child Development Workers (CDWs) from the municipalities of Victoria and Gerona attended a Food Safety Seminar at the Gerona ABC Hall led by Mr. Aljon N. Lusong. He discussed the foundations of food safety, highlighting the critical role of CDWs in ensuring that children consume meals that are safe, nourishing, and correctly prepared in their respective child development centres.
Mr Lusong covered several important topics in his presentation, including the "First In, First Out (FIFO)" method of food storage to guarantee freshness, the necessity of maintaining the right temperature to avoid bacterial growth and spoiling, and the proper handling and storage of both perishable and non-perishable food items. He also reinforced the need to maintain personal hygiene and sanitation while preparing food, as well as the correct use, sanitation, and upkeep of kitchenware and equipment.
All CDWs were reminded at the end of the program to echo their learnings to parents and other individuals involved in meal preparation within their communities. By sharing these practices, CDWs can help ensure that food safety is observed not only in child development centers but also in households.
