After a year of discussions and close coordination with Peace Corps Philippines, the TSU Office of University Extension Services (OUES) finally welcomes Ms. Lauryn Blottin, a US Peace Corps Volunteer from San Diego, California who began her two-year service as a full-time volunteer in the University last September 30.
With extensive work and volunteer experience in the areas of youth development, child protection, and environment, Ms. Blottin is assigned at the Volunteerism Management Department (VMD) of OUES with Dr. Francelle Calub, VMD Head, as her counterpart.
Ms. Blottin hopes to significantly contribute to several University efforts, particularly in mainstreaming volunteerism in the University, strengthening volunteerism among students and student organizations, and implementing child, youth, and family-focused extension and volunteer initiatives.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception during her first visit at the TSU Lucinda Extension Campus, Ms. Blottin showcased her newly-acquired skill in speaking Filipino by saying, โ€œikinagagalak ko po kayong lahat na makilala."
Ms. Blottinโ€™s presence marks another milestone in the university's commitment to fostering partnerships that promote community engagement and service.
The entire TSU community extends its best wishes to Ms. Blottin as she embarks on this meaningful journey with the University.
Special thanks go out to Peace Corps Philippines for giving TSU the opportunity to host a full-term volunteer and for deploying a volunteer whose vision and interests perfectly align with those of the University, and to the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency for approving TSUโ€™s request for an international volunteer.
