The Department of Civil Engineering (DCE) embarked on a significant extension project visit to the Kawayan Collective - Tarlac in Brgy. Tuec, Camiling, Tarlac, on November 6, 2025. This visit solidified the partnership with the organization, which serves as the main funding organization for the extension project titled “Design and Provide Technical Assistance in the Construction of Bale Aeta, an Indigenous Housing Structure for the Aeta Community of Sitio Mapali Danum, Capas, Tarlac.”
Kawayan Collective Operations Manager Ms. Prado and Bamboo Consultant Architect Del Rosario Jr. led the Expert Service Providers (ESPs)—headed by Engr. Charmaine Czeninia Reguindin, Engr. Rizza Gamalinda, Engr. Ma. Jan Nickole Estrada, Engr. Ryan Layug, Engr. Justine Bernard Hasegawa, and Civil Engineering Students—through a comprehensive facility tour. This crucial visit ensured a thorough understanding of the Collective's innovative bamboo products and specialized treatment processes.
The core objective of this collaboration is to develop a culturally responsive design plan and produce a prototype output for the Bale Aeta housing, intended for the Aeta community of Barangay Bueno, Sitio Mapali Danum, Capas, Tarlac.
