Child Development Workers (CDWs) from the municipalities of Ramos and Pura attended a Project START session on Basic Food Safety Fundamentals spearheaded by Mr. Aljon N. Lusong on July 31, 2025.
The training held in the Ramos Old SB Hall discusses how food safety is anchored in national law, specifically Republic Act No. 10611, or the Food Safety Act of 2013, which mandates all stakeholders in the food chain to ensure that food served to the public is safe and fit for consumption.
The training session addresses the national law that ensures food safety, specifically Republic Act No. 10611, also known as the Food Safety Act of 2013. This law requires all stakeholders in the food chain to ensure that the food served to the public is safe and suitable for consumption.
"Food safety is not just a matter of practice." Mr. Lusong stated, "It is a legal and moral obligation, particularly when it pertains to the health and welfare of children under our supervision."
He reiterated the importance of CDWs having the necessary knowledge and equipment to prevent foodborne illnesses. He then encouraged them to keep on lobbying for their needs, particularly in the areas of food handling, management, storage, sanitation, and safety equipment.
