The Center for Community and Local Governance Studies and Policy Development (CCLGSPD) recently conducted a courtesy call with Municipal Mayor of Pura, Atty. John Paul Balmores, and Engr. Eloy C. Eclar, Municipal Mayor of Gerona, Tarlac, on May 29 and 30, 2025. Dr. Cynthia G. Quiambao, Director of CCLGSPD; Engr. Emir Lenard Sicangco, Director of the Office of University Extension Services; members of Pura’s Folklore Team; the Project START Team; and US Peace Corps Volunteers were also present during the meeting.
The visit served as an opportunity to discuss the ongoing initiatives of Tarlac State University designed to support grassroots development programs, enhance child development services, and promote local culture.
Hon. Mayor Balmores expressed his unwavering support and appreciation for the university's initiatives, acknowledging the positive impact that these programs have had on their constituents. Hon. Mayor Eclar also mentioned that it is time for academic institutions and local governments to collaborate further to strengthen communities within their municipality.
