The Volunteerism Expo 2024, with the theme SAUP: Lending Hands, Uplifting Lives, was an inspiring celebration of collaborative efforts in fostering a culture of volunteerism and social responsibility. Held in conjunction with the observance of the National Volunteer Month, the event highlighted the importance of volunteerism in national-building and international cooperation.

On December 14, 2024, at SM Telabastagan, the Expo brought together a diverse group of organizations, headed by the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) along with the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), Tarlac State University (TSU), Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and Subic-Clark Alliance for Development (SCAD). Other organizations who supported the Expo are the Empower Philippines, the US Peace Corps, and the Vessels of Humanity Foundation. These organizations were united in their shared commitment to service and community upliftment.

The event kicked off with heartfelt opening messages from key representatives of the partnering organizations. For TSU, Dr. Agnes M. Macaraeg, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of volunteerism in creating positive societal change.

One of the key highlights of the day was the sharing of volunteerism stories by dedicated volunteers from various sectors. Their personal narratives illustrated the profound and lasting impact that acts of service have on individuals, communities, and society as a whole. These stories not only inspired attendees but also demonstrated how collective action can lead to meaningful change.

In keeping with the spirit of celebration, the event featured a Lantern Parade, which became a powerful symbol of hope and unity. The colorful procession, which lit up the venue, embodied the collective spirit of volunteerism, and served as a reminder of the shared mission to uplift communities through service.

Engr. Emir Lenard S.F. Sicangco, TSU's Volunteer Focal Person and Director of the Office of University Extension Services (OUES), played an instrumental role throughout the Expo. Along with other extension personnel, he helped set up an engaging and informative booth that provided attendees with a closer look at TSU's wide range of programs dedicated to community development, education, and outreach. The booth also added an element of fun by organizing a raffle game, where attendees who participated were rewarded with TSU merchandise.

The Volunteerism Expor 2024 concluded as a resounding success, underscoring the importance of collaboration and volunteerism in driving sustainable progress. The event was a testament to the shared vision of all the participating organizations, who together are working to create lasting, meaningful change that will continue to uplift communities for years to come.
