As Tarlac State University continues to be a champion in community service, the College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA) and the College of Science (COS) expressed their commitment to conduct possible extension projects in a virtual meeting held earlier this week, February 10, 2022.

The collaboration was brought to TSU through the initiative and efforts of Hon. Melissa Yeung-Yap, TSU Board of Reagents Representative, who was also present at the meeting. In her speech, she thanked Tarlac State University for its wonderful service and impact not just on different stakeholders but also on the wider community.

Hon. Melissa Yap requested the said colleges of the university to deliver extension services, particularly in the Municipality of Victoria and the rest of the 2nd district of Tarlac.

In her welcome remarks, Dr. Armee N. Rosel, Vice President for Research and Extension Services, said that this is a good opportunity for the university to continually create an impact on its stakeholders.

“This is a great way to put our university closer to different communities,” Dr. Armee Rosel said.

During the meeting, expert service providers from CAFA presented their extension project concepts. They discussed and gave an overview of their possible extension projects for this year.

These projects will contribute much more to society and further contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through the expertise of faculty members from concerned colleges.

Tarlac State University President Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari also attended the meeting.

“We are very thankful not just to this opportunity that is given to TSU, but more so to the trust that Hon. Melissa Yap is giving to everyone, especially the College of Architecture and Fine Arts and the College of Science. We are humbled and thankful for this gesture; we appreciate the trust you gave to us, the Tarlac State University. Rest assured that we are not perfect, but we will strive to be the best with our services and joint undertakings with you,” President Mallari said in her message.

The meeting was also graced by the online presence of Dr. Lea B. Milan, the OIC-Director of ESMO and director of FTRC; deans and faculty experts from CAFA, COS and FTRC; and ESMO, who served as the moderator of the event.

The initial long-term extension project of CAFA, once approved, will kick off this March of 2022.
