The Tarlac State University – College of Computer Studies (TSU - CCS) conducted an onsite training and workshop
on Networking, ICT Maintenance Troubleshooting, and IoT for Tarlac Police Provincial Office (TPPO) Personnel. The
training was completed last December 5, 2022, at TSU-CCS Audio Visual Room (AVR). The goal of the said extension
training and workshop includes educating and assisting the beneficiary in deepening their understanding of Networking, ICT
Maintenance Troubleshooting, and IoT.

The College of Computer Studies faculty coordinated the extension activity under Dr. Alvincent E. Danganan, Dean
of the College, and Dr. Rogel L. Quilala, Associate Dean of the College. Resource Speakers for the training were Service
Expert Providers from the College of Computer Studies. They addressed networking, ICT maintenance troubleshooting, and
the Internet of Things.

The CCS IT Instructor, Mr. Nomar R. Lapitan, highlighted his expertise in basic ICT maintenance and troubleshooting.
His discussion aims to help the beneficiary identify what is wrong with these faulty components and systems when the
problem is not immediately apparent. While Mr. Ronnie B. Mercado, Computer Science Instructor, shared his expertise in
Computer Network Essentials. He talked about essential networking basics such as Clients and servers, IP addresses,
Network hubs, switches, and cables. His discussion aims to equip the beneficiary with the knowledge on connecting multiple
nodes such as computers, desktops, routers, hubs, and switches with the help of either wired cables (Ethernet, data cables,
fiber optics) or wireless networks (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi).

Moreover, Dr. Rogel L. Quilala imparted his knowledge in File management and other tools. His discussion aims to
equip the beneficiary with expertise in organizing, storing, and manipulating files on a computer system. This can include
organizing stored files into folders, backing up files, and compressing files to save space. And Mr. Joselito T. Tan imparted
his knowledge about the Internet of Things.

A workshop was organized after the discussion. As a result of the prior training, the beneficiary at the Tarlac Police Provincial Office (TPPO) applied what they had learned in the talk into practice. The Police Chief, Master Sergeant, Ms. Alma D. Rivera, and other PNP Facilitators expressed gratitude for the successful and fruitful training.
PMAJ Ruperto F. Calosa Jr. revisit the College of Computer Sciences on March 8, 2023, to further their knowledge and strengthen their skills in networking, ICT maintenance, troubleshooting, and IoT. This activity
allows them to transfer new information and abilities from their short-term to long-term memory.

This completed extension activity of CCS contributes to Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 04, known
as Quality Education; SDG 08, known as Decent Work and Economic Growth; and Goal 9, known as Industry, Innovation,
and Infrastructure of the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda. This kind of activity helps to promote sustained, full, and
productive employment and decent work for the beneficiary. It also helps promote lifelong learning opportunities for them
in delivering their duty.
